When we talk about dream weddings, many envision ceremonies atop mountains, in garden settings, or by the sea. These picturesque venues often come with a hefty price tag, especially seaside weddings. Packages for 50-80 guests can easily exceed €25,000 in Europe, but you can get it done for about €8,000 in Thailand, not to mention additional expenses for wedding attire, makeup, drinks, and more. It’s easy to get carried away and overspend, leaving your budget in shambles.
We recently organized our own seaside wedding in February 2018, do we have some tales to tell! But fear not, we’ve got a few tricks up our sleeves to share with those planning their special day.

Know Your Budget
Before rushing to book a venue, take a good look at your wallet. My spouse and I funded everything ourselves, so careful planning was key. While not having parental support meant tight purse strings, it also gave us the freedom to plan the wedding of our dreams without outside influence.
No Rush, No Fuss
If your wallet is feeling a bit light, don’t fret about tying the knot immediately. Give yourself time, and your partner too, to prepare both financially and emotionally. We took over a year to plan from the day we got engaged in October 2016 to our wedding in February 2018. It was a period of self-reflection and assurance that we were making the right decision.
Concept and Mood & Tone
Understanding what you both envision for your wedding is crucial. We wanted a seaside ceremony, reflecting our shared love for the ocean. Mixing Christian and Thai traditions added a personal touch, and we aimed for a warm and love-filled atmosphere where guests felt like witnesses to our journey.
Concept: Seaside Wedding – We both love the sea and dream of a wedding by the ocean.
Ceremony: Christian and Thai Fusion – While we are both Christians, we also want to incorporate Thai traditions and attire.
Mood & Tone: Warm and Filled with Love – We want our wedding to be a true celebration of love, where guests come because they genuinely care about us and want to witness our union.
Once the Concept and Mood & Tone of the wedding are clear, it helps us estimate the approximate number of guests.
The Guest List
Invite those who genuinely want to share in your joy. Avoid inviting out of obligation or fear of offending someone. We split our guest list into two rounds, prioritizing close family and friends first. This approach eased the pressure of selecting guests and ensured a more intimate celebration.

Let Pictures Speak
A picture is worth a thousand words, especially when trying to convey your wedding vision to organizers or hotels. Start by creating a mood board on platforms like Pinterest, saving images that resonate with your desired aesthetic. This visual aid not only helps in venue selection but also ensures clear communication with suppliers.

So, if you’re on the brink of wedding planning, take a breath, assess your finances, and envision your dream celebration. Remember, it’s not about how much you spend, but the love and memories you create on your special day. And if you need a little inspiration or advice, don’t hesitate to reach out. Happy planning!
